As prescribed in the constitution, there are four main objectives of the Population Association of Southern Africa (PASA):
- develop and promote scientific capacities for undertaking research, training and discussion in and of population matters in Southern Africa;
- stimulate and foster collaboration among persons and institutions involved in the study of population issues in Southern Africa;
- stimulate interest in population matters among governments at various levels, national and international organizations, scientific bodies and the general public in Southern Africa;
- organize research activities and scientific meetings, conferences and publish scientific information dealing with population matters.
